Again about South East England Sustainable Village Project.

Today I've again the pleasure to present the South East England Sustainable Village Project, just using a founders' more accurate presentation.

Hello and welcome to the South East England Sustainable Village Project!

Our goal is to create a village which is cleverly designed to be practical, comfortable, and sustainable; where a community spirit will be encouraged without compromising privacy. We are deeply excited by this project, and if you would like to find out more, or want to get involved, please head over to our contact page.
Sustainability (abbreviated from Wikipedia)
This word is widely used and covers a wide variety of concepts including
“maintain”, “support”, or “endure”. It is commonly used to describe human sustainability on planet Earth as “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs, requiring the reconciliation of environmental, social and economic demands” – the “three pillars” of sustainability.
Aims

1. A way of living where the benefits of community living are balanced with the need for privacy at the personal and/or family level
2. An aim for eventual self sufficient in energy, water & food and closed-loop waste recycling.
3. Accessible cycling and public transport facilities
4. The option to work and earn income from within and/or outside the community boundaries
5. A traffic-free central sports/community centre and shopping area, accessible to and a focus of the community
6. Attractive to all ages and ethnic groups based on principles of mutual respect, support and tolerance
7. Democratic principles with freedom to disagree publicly with any policies but an acceptance of the verdict of the majority.
8. The community will necessarily be evolutionary – we cannot wait until everything is in place before we make a start.
9. To provide a focus in the South East Of England based on similar initiatives in other parts of the UK and world.
10. Reach out to experts in relevant technological and scientific fields such as biomimicry, architecture and waste management to ensure the village takes advantage of the latest advances.
11. Have a bit of fun :0)

What we are not

* A “Gated community”, restricting access to our site
* A New Age Commune
* A refuge for those unwilling to live/work in traditional English communities
* A spirituality based movement

We may choose to adopt

* A local currency to encourage inter-community trading, possibly with electronic payment cards to avoid cash.
* Local Exchange Trading Schemes (LETS)
* Car/Appliance/Equipment Sharing
* Electric Car Charging Points
* A policy to manage the growth of the community in terms of population and/or buildings
* A Housing Association if this is of any advantage.
